Wed. OIct. 14. We are working our way home the slightly slow way. We waved good by to Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Maru as we flew over. The plane took the scenic route north because there are some new closed airspace areas on our old route. Huh!!!? What has been going on in east Africa over the last two weeks?!?
We have arrived in Frankfurt (last night).

Today we wandered around the city and had some gelato, We learned that the Frankfurt Dom (Cathedral) is still a Catholic church, and has no bishop. It has been a few years since they selected and crowned a king/emperor in the building (it was neither Holy, Roman, nor an Empire), but it can’t hurt to keep the building available if they need to select another one in the future.

Tomorrow we fly home via DC. Can we get from one plane, through Immigration and Customs (and health check — Uganda is on a special list), and on to the next plane in 90 minutes? If not, there will be another boring story to tell.
We are happy to be able to drink the water in the sink for the first time in two weeks. Simple pleasures of civilization.
